Thomas Cooks Dinner

Well, actually Mom cooked the dinner. But the recipe came from Thomas' new cookbook. And it was delicious!

First Day of School

The first day of school has come and gone. There were a few tears as the boys got settled into their new classrooms, but by the end of the day they were passed that and excited about the new year.

"Bad" Performance

Kids Fun Camp, the camp that the boys go to during the day, had their "Star Search" show to mark the end of the summer. Each age group put together a dance and this year's theme was Michael Jackson.

The Joke’s on Mom

I don’t know if its an April Fool’s gag, or if someone in the kitchen woke up late, but the “nutritious” breakfast at school this morning consisted of doughnuts and french fries.

Thomas on the Wii Fit

Thomas and Charles played with the Wii Fit this morning. Charles was a natural at the hula-hoop. Thomas... not so much.

There's a new QIK group created for the birthday celebrations today. It's a live stream from my phone, or if I'm not doing that it'll show past clips from the day.

"Two Wheel" Thomas

Thomas took a spin on Chase's two-wheeler today at the park and declared himself "training wheel free".

Parent Lunch at School

Thomas' class had a Parent's Lunch today which began with a small performance.

The yard work is done. We still don't have power but the boys don't
seem to mind much.

It looks like school might start Tuesday... might not. Again, the boys
don't seem to mind much.

It was a historical day at the pool. Both Thomas and Charles went off the diving board and discovered that its really not scary.

Muffin Tops

I saw the new Eggo Muffin Tops this morning (yes, they are kind of yummy) and they made me think of Seinfeld, which made me think of Harvey and Jane, which made me think of Hollimannet... and how long its been since I posted something.

The Bees got together one last time for the closing ceremonies which of course included... TROPHIES!

The first season of Tee-Ball is over, and what a fun season it was for Charles and Thomas (thanks to Dianne and the rest of the mom's). Of course, winning the last game was cool too!

Bees Lose

The game on Saturday didn't end well... not well at all. But as usual the boys had a blast playing! (as you can see by the grin on Thomas' face as he runs to first)

The Bee's Get A Win!

Busy Weekend in Houston

As if yesterday wasn't busy enough, we spent the better part of this Sunday downtown at the Children's Festival.

Bees 1-2 for the Season

The teams seemed evenly matched and the boys sure played a good game. But at the end it just wasn't quite enough to pull off a win.

They didn't seem too upset though. It was off to the snack bar for a snow cone, and then to the Toyota Center for Walking with Dinosaurs LIVE.

And Thomas Scores!

Both Charles and Thomas scored runs tonight, and The Bees won! They are now 1-1 for the season. :)

First Game

The boys had their first tee-ball game yesterday. It was a very long day. Dianne got them there in time for team photos at 9am. Then there was the Opening Day Ceremony followed by a carnival. We left after noon to go home and take a quick nap, then it was back to the field for the first ever game for The Bees.

They didn't win (lost by 2) but the boys played great!

Another Bowling Birthday

We celebrated Thomas' fourth birthday today with a bowling party. As you can see here, a great time was had.

Thanks to the babysitting services of the local gymnastics school, mommy and daddy got a few hours off to have an adult dinner.

Overdue Update

Its been a while but I just thought I'd make a quick post and let everyone know that we're alive and well in Houston. We spent the day at Space Center Houston (4th time this year) and as usual the boys had a great time.


We actually got to take the tram tour and see Mission Control and then training facilities. Charles and Thomas seemed to enjoy it, but as usual the most fun was had on the playground and the activity center.

You Gotta Keep It Decorated

6am: Arts and Crafts

Dianne is off in Louisiana visiting a friend and having some fun, which leaves "just us guys" to hang out for the weekend. Our fun has included seeing Bee Movie in the theater yesterday, grilling hotdogs, and playing tee-ball.

This morning's agenda began at 6am when the boys informed me that it was time for Arts and Crafts. I'm not sure whats scheduled for the rest of the day, but I do know its going to be a long one. :)

The Last Soccer Game

It was pretty much like the others, except that instead of snacks we had a pizza party after the game. Thomas didn't want to play in the game except to defend the goal, which hen did pretty well. And Charles had a few good runs down the field. All in all it was the best game ever.

Fall Festival

Picture Day at School

The First Soccer Game

It was a great day for the boys. Their first soccer game was a blast. They both got to play in the goal, although Thomas for only the last minute.


They both played hard though and had a great time.


Here's a clip of the very first play of the game. I'm trying out Blogger's new video support, but all of the clips have been uploaded to the Pickle page and should look better from there.

I'm Batman

Out of the blue tonight Charles announced that he wanted to wear the Halloween costume Dianne bought for him last year. If you recall, Charles didn't want to have anything to do with it at the time, and although Thomas tried it on he cried the minute she put it on him.



Not tonight. As soon as Charles put it on he was a "though guy" and tried to punch Thomas. Then it was Thomas' turn... :)

Remember when?

Remember when you just couldn't wait for the first day of school?



Yea... me neither. But Charles and Thomas sure were excited. And by all accounts, it was a great first day.

All is well...

Dianne and the boys returned on time, safe and sound. The new school year starts tomorrow so Dianne spent all afternoon cleaning the house and getting everything perfect.

I had some time this evening to try to off-load our recent photos and am trying to get some of them organized. So far I have not gotten past our most recent trip to San Antonio.

Memorial Day Weekend, Wrap Up

It was a great weekend at NanaPapa World. A little too much rain, but the boys had a great time on their new bikes - Dianne, Jennifer, and Harvey got some good "Wal-Mart" time in - and there was lots of fishing in between down-pours.



And Dianne and the boys even orchestrated a mini-birthday party for Jane before we left. I've posted a few more short clips to a pickle-page and uploaded most of my photos to a google album...

Memorial Day Weekend, Sunday

Report from Rockdale, Day 2

From Rockdale Apri...

Day 2 was as much fun as the first. The boys didn't sleep as well last night, so lunch and nap time came a little early. But we had a great time playing outside, catching bugs, and planting watermelon seeds.

The return trip to Houston was uneventful with just one pit stop in Brenham. Mommy was waiting to greet the boys and it was off to bed - safe, sound, and tired...but happy.

Report from Rockdale, Day 1

We arrived Friday evening safe and sound and immediately got to work. Harvey and Jane had hotdogs and a roast at the ready, and the boys jumped right into the rocks, tractors, and fishing gear.



The boys slept until 7:30am on Saturday and they hit the floor running. We fed the cows, went fishing (didn't catch a thing), watched Doss play tee-ball, napped, more tee-ball (at home), caught some butterflies, played in the dirt, and ended the day with a picnic outside and a bubble bath inside.

Heading Home

Today didn't work out exactly as we'd liked. We started out at the Sea Lion Show, which was funny enough (especially since the sea lions were not cooperating). After the show we fed them, and then the birds.


Jane would be so proud. Charles charged in and made sure that every bird got a little of the food. Thomas on the hand was afraid of the noise. Go figure.

And then the rain came. We spent the next several hours freezing in the pool as the boys splashed and played. One more trip through the penguin house (because we just weren't quite cold enough) and it was back to the car for the long ride home. Thomas didn't make it far beyond the parking lot, but we've just passed Seguin and Charles is still going strong.

Off to see Shamu

Well, we're off. This should be a fun weekend of "firsts" - first hotel stay, first whale, first indoor pool, first water park. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. :)


As you might guess, it should be pretty week documented. There's a new Pickle channel where I'll post the photos and videos as we go, and a new Flickr set in case you care but don't want to download the Flash.

Goodnight Call

I missed the call from home last night to say goodnight... I called right back, but the original voicemail was just too cute!

Woodland Heights Home Tour

The Woodland Heights Home tour is this weekend and the kick-off picnic was this evening.



Not a huge function, but a lot of fun. Friends from the school were there (both of the boys and of Dianne) and of course... "every party has a bouncy castle. its a rule."

I've posted a few pictures from Thomas' birthday party on Saturday here. Most of my pictures were taken on film, which has not been developed yet, so stay tuned... in the mean time there's a few clips from the fun.

Dianne put together a little pre-birthday celebration for Thomas tonight since I won't be in town. There are a few snapshots to check out, and of course the blowing-out of the candles.

From Random Photos

I had a few extra minutes so I thought I'd try and see what's up with Blogger and Picasa. Seems that with the "new" Blogger it does work. If you are not able to make it work, try 1) downloading the latest version of Picasa and 2) logging into Blogger and "upgrading" your account to the "new" Blogger (this will require that you have a Google account if you don't already). The posting process seems a little different, but pretty straight-forward.

Side note: by default it seems to post the entries as "draft" which means to have to then log into Blogger, go to the entries, and make sure that you publish the draft entry that should be there.
